Spectrals are the ectoplasmic, spiritual by-product of losing one’s life (ghosts) and exist for a multitude of different reasons. Some ghosts feel strongly that they have unfinished business still on Earth that they ignore the Bright Lights when they open. Some Spectrals were victims of horrible acts that left their souls so defiled that the Bright Lights never appeared to them at all. And others are… brought back! Ghosts are considered Spectrals when they gain the power to affect the world around them by shear force of will. With their abilities, they can effectively fly, manipulate another’s senses to create incredible illusions, or outright possess objects and people.

Apocalypse Prevention, Inc. rarely “recruits” their Spectral agents from outside sources. Instead, they are largely composed of former employees that the company just couldn’t “let go”. Most had some sort of previous influence and status within the company and are still expected to uphold their duties. For instance, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for Apocalypse Prevention, Inc. is a Spectral. However, there are some outside former employees that also prove to be useful. They bring an advantage of being both invisible and intangible to their squad, allowing for quick reconnaissance and stealth.
